How the Alliance Works

Two Years of Learning,
Built Around You

The Numeracy Alliance combines four interconnected learning structures to support every educator in the classroom, online, and beyond.

Learning Together

In-person PL events held at regional sites across Kentucky twice a year, plus a culminating summer graduation at the close of the two-year program. Virtual Patterns Live sessions fill the gaps...five, 1-hour virtual sessions each year, offered every other month.

Learning Individually

About 3 hours of asynchronous learning each month, delivered through a Carnegie Learning Patterns course tailored to your grade band... intermediate (3–5) or middle grades (6-8 & Algebra I).

Communities of Practice

Two 1-hour virtual CoP sessions each year... one in the fall, one in the spring... to connect with colleagues, share what's working, and build collective momentum.

Customized Coaching

One-on-one coaching with EPIC math coaches throughout both years, focused on bringing your learning directly into classroom practice.

What educators say...

Hear from the teachers and leaders making change happen.

"The EPIC Numeracy Alliance along with the Elevate Academy Rank Change program has been a game changer for me. The things I have learned on this journey far surpasses ANY professional development I have completed in my 20 year career thus far! Don't think twice...it is totally worth it!"
Roberta
Teacher (Grades 3-5), Martin County
"This program has by far been the best experience of any that I have participated in during my career.  The content is useful and relevant.  The facilitators are compassionate and knowledgeable.  I could not have asked for a more effective way to pursue my Rank change."
Shannon
Teacher (Grades 6-8), Russellville Independent
"I have learned so much about fractions through the EPIC Numeracy Alliance! The tasks in the Patterns coursework have challenged my own thinking and helped me to better understand how student thinking about fractions progresses over time. I better understand how to build a series of lessons to go from concrete to more abstract, and have learned about games and activities that make fraction work more fun and engaging. I'm glad I had the opportunity to be part of the work!"
Sheri
Instructional Leader, Bowling Green Independent
"EPIC Numeracy Alliance and Elevate Academy has had such an amazing impact on me and my students. With a undergrad degree and a masters in Middle Grades Mathematics, I found that I knew the content really well. EPIC Numeracy Alliance provided me with teaching strategies, manipulatives, math language routines, multiple representations, and coaching sessions that helped me build student thinking, collaboration, and communication along with the content I already knew. I have seen so much growth in myself and my students since I started this journey! "

"Those the past two years I have learned some wonderful new strategies to use with my students to get them thinking about the why they solve a problem in a specific way. One of my favorite strategies that I have fully implemented is the three read strategy. "
